6 Indoor Games to Get Kids Moving {Indoor Gross Motor Play}

Active Indoor Games for Kids

We are blessed to live in an area where the sun shines about 340 days per year.  We are able to play outside pretty much every single day.  This year we have seen more rain than ever.  We love to put on our rain boots and splash around outside, but with limited time outside I am constantly looking for ideas for indoor active play.  We all get a bit of cabin fever when we can't run around and burn off some energy.  In addition to burning off energy, we should all be getting our heart rates up for at least 30 minutes each day.

6 indoor gross motor games to keep kids active - little to no prep time involved!

I don't know about you, but on gloomy, rainy days I'm not particularly motivated to get up and move.  The last thing I feel like doing is setting up an involved game.  Here are our favorite rainy day energy busters as well as a couple ideas from two of my favorite blogs.  The best part is, all of them are SIMPLE and easy to start!

2. Monster Punching Bag from Play Create Explore
      I can't WAIT to make one of these for my boys!

4.  The Stuffed Animal Run from In Lieu of Preschool

In my experience the best games involve the whole family!  Sometimes my kids aren't overly eager to play a game until I just dive in and start.  Some of the best play times start with a simple game of chase.  We all need to stay active to be healthy, so set the example and get up and moving with your kids!
