Tempura Paint in the Play Pool

We've been having a blast this summer with messy play in the Play Pool!  Last week I added tempura paint (washable, of course) for a new way to paint and mix colors.  With the 4th of July just around the corner I thought it would be fun to use red, white and blue.

They stepped in gingerly at first.  It always surprises me when they start slow, but of course before too long they were covered from head to toe.

JZ attempted some handstands, LOL.  It reminded me of when we made our Body Paint Slip and Slide, only this was much more slippery!

One of their favorites was sliding in the paint.  They kept requesting more paint, so they could smear it as they went down.

J-Bug requested cars and trucks to drive through the paint.

He kept asking for more until I brought almost a dozen.  He loves making paint tracks with trucks.

JZ grabbed the hose to begin the clean up.

It became a car wash.

Or maybe a car bath.

We paint almost every single day.  Be sure and check out other ways we've gotten creative!

  5. I know my boys would love this, but I think I'd have to be feeling brave as its pretty messy, although to be honest whenever we paint someone always ends up painting themselves when I'm not looking anyway so maybe we should just go for the full on body paint!

    1. Ha! I know what you mean! My three year old looks at me confused when I say it's not a time to paint our feet and legs. (Like when we are inside.)

  7. How much fun is this! Paint, hose, cars!! You are one cool parent. I wonder how it feels when paint dries on your legs? I've never painted my legs - obviously I need to try that one of these days.

  11. I would love to try this with my kids. But I'm worried about clean up. Do you just spray water everywhere? What about paint residue and stuff in your backyard? Could this harm a dog? I wouldn't let him in the backyard during the play time but what about after clean up? Sorry for so many questions.
