Simple Water Play with Balls

Balls and Water in the Play Pool

This summer we have had a blast filling the play pool with different materials for summer sensory fun.  A few favorites include shaving cream, water balloons, colored ice and tempura paint.  Most of the play pool activities I set up are for JZ (5) and J-Bug (3).  I wanted to do something specifically with my 13 month old twins, Tank and Peanut.

It's amazing how adding one simple element to water play creates a new and exciting play time.

Even J-Bug thought it was cool.  He has requested this every day since we did it a couple weeks ago.

In fact he grabbed an apple off our tree and relaxed in the play pool while enjoying a healthy snack.

Tank and Peanut played for hours, and we kept the balls in the play pool for a couple weeks, changing the water each time, of course.

Such a simple way to stay cool in the heat of summer.

Peanut  especially enjoyed throwing the balls out onto the grass.

  3. What a simple, fun idea...my husband and I were recently talking about how sad it is that our kids won't grow up with big ball pits. I bet my boys would love this!

  5. We turned our pool into a ball pit when it sprang a leak! I know the balls would have been even more fun if it had still held water!
