Year-Long Virtual Book Club for Kids

VirtualBookClubI'm pleased to announce that I will be joining in the Virtual Book Club that takes place on many of my favorite blogs.  I enjoyed reading all about the summer book club, so when invited to join the year long club I jumped at the opportunity.  My boys and I love reading together, and this is a special way to expand upon our literature collection and connect with other bloggers around the world.

Each month we will choose a book from a different author and then do an activity related to the book.  In addition to what we come up with I look forward to choosing a few ideas showcased from my fellow bloggers participating in the club.  I will let JZ and J-Bug read the posts along with me and choose their favorite activities to try.

I'd like to invite all my readers to join in the fun.  The Virtual Book Club hosts complied a fabulous list of authors for the year.  Pick a book (or two, or more!), and enjoy a few related crafts, snacks, or games to go along with what you read.  Then feel free to post on Train Up a Child's Facebook page about your reading adventures.

Here is the list of authors for the year:
September 17th-Lois Ehlert
October 15th-Amy Krouse Rosenthal
November 19th- Tomie de Paola
December 17th- Jan Brett
January 21st-David McPhail
February 18th-Dr. Seuss
March 18th-Julia Donaldson
April 15th-David Shannon
May 20th-Leo Lionni
June 17th-Gail Gibbons
July 15th- Jez Alborough
August 19th-Donald Crews

Be sure and check back next week to see which book we read!

  1. Hi Allison! Answer to your question on my blog post: I do turn off the oven once the final timer beeps. But I let the baking tin rest inside in the heat of the oven for a few minutes. :)

  2. This is a really great idea and sounds like a fun way to continue enjoying books even after having read them!

  3. Is it up to us to choose a book and activity, or should we wait and follow along with what you are doing? Can you use that first graphic for a button? I'm confused. :)

    1. Hi, I'm so glad you are interested in joining in the fun! How you participate is up to you. You are free to choose a book of your choice (This month the author is Lois Ehlert.) and do an activity with your child(ren). Or you can wait until Monday when the blog hop begins and get inspired by what others are doing. If you do your own activity and blog about it please link up on Monday! Yes I will have a button code on Monday. If you click that button now it will take you to the VBC FB page, and you can follow along there, too. Please ask any more questions you may have if I didn't clear it up. Thank you!
